Our Journey

It wasn't an easy ride after getting our offer accepted on the house, there were a few bumps in the road...

We were on our way to Wales, with a family holiday booked, we had stopped at the services and returning to the car, as soon as I saw Gary, I knew something was wrong.  His head hung low and his shoulders were hunched, as he rested against the boot of the car.

Me and the children approached slowly, not knowing what was about to head my way. He looked up "We can't have the house" he uttered in a whisper.

I stopped still and waited for him to explain, to tell me how my dream had crashed to the ground.

He looked up and sighed and then the most awful news was released.  It turns out that there was a covenant on the house. A covenant preventing it from being used as a business.  The solicitor was firm with her words "We could not use this house as a holiday home."  She said there was no way out of it, no way to get it removed.

For the rest of the journey, my time was taken messaging the owners of Bridge View, trying to explain why we would have to pull out of the sale.  My heart was broken.

Then the owner responded with a solution.  They knew that the covenant had been added to the land many years ago, before it had become a home and they knew the people who had added it.  It had been added to prevent businesses being built on the land, especially with the port being so close, not to stop guests enjoying their seaside holiday.

For the first night of our holiday, Gary spent most of his time on the phone to solicitors and no short of a miracle, the owners of Bridge View saved my dream.  They had the covenant removed, much to the surprise of our solicitor and we were back on with our plan in no time.

To those who helped remove this covenant from the deeds to Bridge View, we will be forever grateful and send a huge thank you.

The Journey Continues...
