Local Area Information

Seagreen View is in Silloth, a seaside town on the coast of Cumbria.  Next door is Silloth Golf Course and the house overlooks the 18th hole.  The town dates back to the 1800s, when it was well known as a health resort for the middle class.  As time went on, it became the perfect holiday destination, with its quiet sandy beach and views over the Solway.

Silloth west beach is a 5 minute walk from the house. This is a long sandy beach, backed by dunes, with views over to Scotland.  It is dog friendly all year round and quiet even in summer.  Adjacent to the beach is Silloth Port and Flour mill, where cargo ships come and go.

The town of Silloth is a 5 minute walk from the house, with pubs, restaurants, a cocktail bar, tearoom, coffee house and numerous takeaways. There are convenience shops plus gift shops, and even a dog treat shop.  The large community Green Flag award winning green sits in the heart of the town and backs onto the seafront.  With a traditional amusement arcade and summer funfair, along with ice cream parlour and a Train ride around the green, it's great for family holidays.  The cobbled streets and coloured town houses give the feel of a time gone by and everyday stresses can melt away as you enjoy your holiday.

Take a drive along the coast to Maryport, where you will find the aquarium and harbour, or travel to Workington and explore the shops and town.  Drive inland to The Lake District and visit Keswick and Butteremere, or explore the Gruffalo Trail at Whinlatter.  Scotland is in striking distance, where you can visit Gretna Green or Southerness.

With everything on your doorstep, you can leave the car at the house and explore; but if you do feel like an adventure, then the coast or the Lakes are within easy reach.
