Our Little Cabin

From the beginning, we knew we had to have a special feature at Seagreen, but we didn't know what.

We considered the idea of a hot-tub and even went to see a local firm for advice.  Their advice was simple, don't bother! They pointed out all the flaws in the plan, from health and safety issues to maintenance, to the financial implications if it ever stopped working.

We immediately knew that wasn't the way to go and started to look into a summer house idea.  A simple Google search of 'what to do with my shed?' brought forth the photo of a barbecue cabin and the idea was born.

We visited a local company to take a look and get some ideas and loved it immediately.  We luckily found a supplier and fitter in Cumbria who would be willing to travel to Silloth and so we booked them in.

We chose the middle size of cabin, not too small, but not too large and began to buy all the accessories.

The day the cabin was built, we weren't in Silloth but Seagreen's original owners kindly offered to oversee the construction and to light the fire pit for the first time.

It was so bare in the beginning, but we soon filled it with pillows and blankets, lights and trinkets.

The cabin has been well used since then and the fire pit has become a little worn, so a fire pit bowl has been added to make firelighting easier for our guests.

We did have a crisis in 2024 when the under-tray fell off due to use, luckily, Handy Andy came to our rescue and put it all back together for us.

So when you book a stay at Seagreen, you get to enjoy the cabin as much as you like.  We leave a starter pack of charcoal and firelighters, and then more is available at the local shop during the summer.

You can enjoy a barbecue with family and friends, just relax with a good book as the fire crackles or play some music and party the night away.

We hope you love our little cabin, and don't forget to say hello to Rabbit, Goose and Dobbie, our cabin residents, during your stay.

Melanie and Gary xx
