The Internet Crisis!!!

We dread the message from guests telling us there is a problem.  We've had it all, from the dishwasher not working to the hot water no longer hot, or the lamp post knocked over or one of our furry guests disappearing on a walk.

This day was the day for the internet to test us.  A message from guests telling us the internet has been off for a few hours. No surfing, no googling, no telling the world what a great holiday you are having.

A quick test of the internet in the area said there should be no problems AAGGHHH - not good, we were hoping it was all of Silloth and that would be the explanation. A phone call to Catherina did shed some light, the internet had been down, but was now up and running - so why weren't we???

The guests had done the usual turn off and on, but no luck. There was power - so that wasn't the problem.  This is the time that Gary is called in to do his thing - and by his thing - i mean giving them a call to see what's going on whilst I pace around very stressed!

The very kind man on the phone was confused - we should be up and running, it said so on his screen, but the guests still had nothing.  I was on the phone to the guests, Gary was on the phone to Vodafone and this 4 way conversation continued for some time.

Eventually, our Vodafone helper gave up - there was no solution - so he asked to speak to the guests directly to see if he could figure it out.

And then it was fixed!!! it now became clear that our router had been reset in the outage, sending us back to the original login details - no more our very simple 'seagreen' password for our wifi - now some long awful password - but we were back on and the guests could Google again!!

We've decided not to amend the login details - just in case this happens again - so now we have a QR code you can scan with your phone on arrival to login into the Wi-fi or you can challenge yourself and input the very unfriendly password - if that's your kind of thing.

So things may go wrong during your stay, but we are always here to get it sorted for you and we won't give up until we have...
